Abstract

Microinsurance is insurance for low income people and is present
mostly in developing countries. It is a new term, but not a new concept and the
main feature which distinguishes from conventional insurance is the low
premium level. The scope of this paper is to discuss about the technology
adequate for implementation in insurance organizations that serve poor
customers market. This paper is trying to explain the relationship between
technology and microinsurance. In order to gain greater knowledge about the
main research problem, qualitative desk research was conducted.
The research results show different technologies available for
implementation in microinsurance organizations and technology contributes for
expense reduction and thus offering low premiums to policyholders. The main
hypothesis which states that technology is of great importance for
microinsurance organizations is confirmed.
Having in mind that microinsurance is still not introduced in the
Republic of Macedonia, this paper will initiate its implementation.
