Abstract

Abstract
The concept of entrepreneurship is one of the most exploited concepts in the economic, social,
cultural and political literature. It is a very general and very important aspect of the everyday
economic activities within the society that consistently calls for application of innovations,
flexibility, risk taking, creativity, professionalism etc. Besides the fact that, on a first place as a
concept is fully recognizable and exploited in the private sector, in recent years in the literature
there are growing attempts to study the application and effects of the entrepreneurship in public
sector organizations. Thus, the goals of the paper are to make analysis of the key importance of
the entrepreneurship in the public sector regarding the concept of general entrepreneurship applied
in the private sector. In addition, the goal is to assess the creation of public value and its relation
with applying the concept of entrepreneurship in the public sector. Consequently, one of the most
important goals is to evaluate the current efforts undertaken by the Republic of North Macedonia
in implementing entrepreneurship in private and public sector organizations. Mostly, in doing the
research, the historical method and method of analysis is used. The results of the research point
out that applying entrepreneurship in public sector organizations is crucial in creating public value
in society. However, besides the huge efforts undertaken by the Governments of North Macedonia
in the past in order to promote the entrepreneurship in the society, the country must undertake
serious steps in the future for promoting and enhancing the concept of entrepreneurship in public
sector organizations.
