Abstract

Tourism and the intercultural contacts based on develop mutual understanding and reduce prejudices. The tourist guides are among the closest and most direct persons who are in contact with tourists, actually are number one in tourism and they are ambassadors of the country, therefore occupy different roles.
Intercultural competence that is built through a combination of socio-cultural knowledge, intercultural awareness, social skills and intercultural skills is a necessary element for successful communication, but the tourist guides did not acquire during their education. In order to achieve a high level of quality, required highly educated tourist guides regarding of information, professional knowledge and capabilities in relation to intercultural competences which must include skills in foreign languages in the language of the tourists that
they lead.
