Abstract

The examinations have been made on the kind Trichoderma asperellum in in vitro and in vivo conditions. During the cultivation of the fungus T. asperellum, on the nutritive surface in double culture and with phytopathogenic fungus Pythium debaryanum, it stops the growing of the pathogenic fungus and continues to develop upon its colony. The growth of the pathogenic fungus cultivated in the presence of the antagonist is reduced for 37.27% in average, while the percentage of inhibition of the growth of the colony of the pathogenic fungus ranged between 54.55% and 72.73%. The biological control of the disease root-rot of the tobacco seedling, caused by this pathogenic fungus, was evaluated in a protective space. Inoculation of a seedling with a culture of the pathogen with a double culture of P. debaryanum and T. asperellum has been made. The results have shown a high percentage of infection at the control variants, while the treated variants with double culture, the percentage of infection was minimum, i.e. the seedling was healthy and it was developing faster.
