Abstract

Statistics is a field of mathematics that pertains to data analysis. Statistical methods and equations can be applied to a data set in order to analyze and interpret results, explain variations in the data, or predict future data. Today statistics is a set of scientific methods of quantitative and qualitative research variation of mass phenomena. Statistical analysis was divided into descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The most common is applied descriptive statistical methods are: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, standard error to the arithmetic mean, the coefficient of variation. We use inferential statistics to make judgments of the probability that an observed difference between groups. Most of the major inferential statistics come from a general family of statistical models known as the General Linear Model. This includes the t-test and regression analysis.
