Abstract

SBR-wastewater treatment plant implies a number of hydro pumps, which mainly work as sunken hydro pumps, as well as other hydro-mechanical equipment. During designing wastewater treatment plants, especially in case of smaller units, the selection of hydro-mechanical equipment is often left to the supplier of this equipment, or a choice is made without prior hydraulic calculations. As a result of this unprofessional approach, the hydro-mechanical equipment in the wastewater treatment plants is most often oversized, which reduces its energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Therefore, the paper emphasizes the correct engineering approach to hydro-mechanical equipment selection, which should be based on appropriate hydraulic calculations. This is illustrated on a specific SBR-wastewater treatment plant.
