Abstract

Introduction: Bitola as a city began to expand territorially under Ottoman rule. Bitola is divided into 12 zones, of which the 10th, 11th and 12th zones are peripheral zones, ie the most distant from the central city area. By activating the peripheral areas, understanding the problems and needs of the residents in those zones, we would contribute to the revitalization of the entire city. Therefore, in this paper, the emphasis will be placed on the peripheral areas of the city of Bitola, such as the Bukovska neighborhood, Brusnichka and Strelishte, but we will also analyze the Lavchanska neighborhood and zone 3, that is, Bair. In the peripheral zones of the city, an interview was conducted per household, in each zone there was one interviewer, who, on a previously created questionnaire, collected data on several aspects, such as family income, the number of family members, how many members are students, do they travel outside the zone, do they own a car, with which means of transport do they meet their mobility needs, and the most important question was what was their mobility in the previous day, that is, what was the reason for traveling and where. The data processed in a table and a graphic display will be shown in this article, where we will give the conclusions, also their application in the PTV VISION VISUM software tool will be shown.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate is the collection of data on the mobility (needs of transportation) of the citizens through the face-to-face method, i.e. interview in homes in the peripheral zones of the city of Bitola, with the aim of: understanding the planned urban development and land use, understanding the existing mobility and accessibility of people, i.e. analyzing the offer of transport services in the city, identification of transportation demand in space and time for the existing situation, identification of transportation demand in space and time for the target year - forecast, identification of the demand for public city transport, seeing the lines of travel wishes, realizing how much of the mobility is done outside the living area, understanding the monthly income of families, understanding the problems and reasons why they do not use public city transport, perception of the degree of utilization of motorized vehicles, perception of peripheral source-destination journeys in the territory of the city of Bitola.

Theoretical Framework: The collection of data is of great importance, their processing and feeding to the PTV VISION VISUM software tool, through the application of the standard four-stage model.

Method: Bitola is divided into 12 zones, of which the 10th, 11th and 12th zones are peripheral zones, i.e. the furthest from the central city area. By activating the peripheral areas, realizing the problems and needs of the residents in those zones, we would contribute to the revival of the entire city. Therefore, in this seminar work, the emphasis will be placed on the peripheral areas of the city of Bitola, such as the Bukovska neighborhood, Brusnička and Strelishte, but we will also analyze the Lavčanska neighborhood and zone 3, that is, Bairot. In the peripheral zones of the city, an interview was conducted by household, in each zone there was one interviewer, who collected data on several aspects, such as income in the family, the number of members in the family, how many members are students, whether they travel outside the zone, whether they own a car, with which means of transport they meet their mobility needs, and the most important question was what was their mobility in the previous day, that is, what was the reason for traveling and where. The data processed in a table and graphic display will be shown during the seminar, where we will give the conclusions, also their application in the PTV VISION VISUM software tool will be shown.

Results and Discussion: In Bitola, mobility is realized by different types of transport: walking, cycling, car, public city transport. To do the movement, it is to analyze the mobility of the influence on our activity. household interview on 22.12.2023, with the help of a group of students from the best years of study. In each zone of analysis there is one subject who was an interviewer after 25 questionnaires, or 125 correctly filled questionnaires. We can conclude that we have low mobility, and this is due to a large number of factors: The revenue, the possession of a car, aging of the population, single-parent households with individuals, the migration. Also, the forecasted sizes are very small, due to the low population mobility with application of VISUM software.

Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing insights into how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of transportation and planning. These implications could encompass traffic.

Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by applied to the software tool for transport demand planning and forecasting. The relevance and value of this research are evidenced by publication of a large number of papers and studies in this area during the course of study.
