Abstract

The dynamic development of the society and culture in the English-speaking countries, especially in the United States after the World War II, led to a significant export of terms from these areas and their penetration into all languages in the world. The French language is no exception and there are more and more Anglicisms. This paper examines the uptake and presence of English lexical borrowing in the French language in the fields of Society and Culture. Through the study of their graphic and phonetic forms as well as their significance, their phonetic, graphic and semantic state shell be presented. Their presence in French will be confirmed through examples derived from dictionaries, newspapers and magazines. We will also present certain translations in French, that is, the recommendations of the Journal officiel de la République française referring to France and those of the Grand dictionnaire terminologique from Canada, which recommends the use of the Canadian variant in relation to these lexical loanwords. Thus, the influence of the Anglo-Saxon language and culture on the French language in these areas will be presented, as well as the interventions of France and Quebec regarding these loanwords.
