Abstract

Fish is a food of excellent nutritional value, providing high quality protein and a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A and D, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium and iodine. Fish are sources of other important nutrients, including the long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) eicosapentaenoic acid/docosahexaenoic acid (EPA/DHA), which are associated with reduced heart disease risk. This paper is done on the basis of analysis the fish consumption among the population in city of Bitola (Macedonia), and the level of their awareness of its nutrition value, regardless of age and sex of the responders. The methodological approach in this paper is based on the descriptive method on the basis of the data that has been collected from the field.
