Abstract

The aim of our investigations was to investigate the physical properties of tobacco raw and the reconstituted tobacco obtained from it.
Investigations were carried out upon the raw material which served as a check (obtained from Tobacco Combinate - Prilep) and upon the veins of the varieties Virginia and Burley, choppings from manipulation, choppings from manufacture and remanufactured choppings. Investigations were also carried out upon the physical properties, absolute humidity and water retention capability.
The following physical properties were analysed in the raw material of each reconstituted tobacco: absolute humidity, water retention capacity, substantiality (absolute weight), elasticity, tearing ressistence, density and filling capacity.
