Abstract

Education has proved to be the pioneer when it comes to technology adoption. It is in our human nature to explore and be keen to new technologies. The computers, laptops and netbooks and vivid example of the digitalization of education. This types of technology are shaping the contemporary education. Lately we are witnessing the rapid adoption of tablet computers in education. With that in mind, the next logical step is to deepen the debate whether tablet computers can replace the PCs and if to which extent. This paper will focus on how education can benefit from implementing tablet computers, the aspects that may need some attention and how tablet computers compare to laptops. Next we can find the usage scenarios in elementary, high school and in the university. Lastly we can see results from a survey done in the Republic of Macedonia to see how many of the faculties use tablet computers.
