Comparative investigations were made during 2002 and 2003 on Experimental fild of Tobacco Institute – Prilep, with 6 tobacco varieties on which topping was made, with 2-3 leaves pulled out. The aim of investigation was to make analysis of the productional and chemical characteristics of our three newly created hybrid male sterile varieties Vx-20, V-53, and V-69, compared to the variety MV-1 in CMS form used as a check, and the fertile varieties Sp G-58 ( American ) and V-27/01.
The new varieties had a higher yield of dry tobacco per plant and a higher economic effect. According to their chemical characteristics, the new varieties are typical for the type Virginia.
