Abstract

Belcista wetland is located in Municipality of Debrca, between two villages: Novo Selo and Belcista. This wetland is a relict remnant of the ancient Desaret Lake, which existed in this area during the Pliocen. Belcista wetland (Blue swamps) is the largest wetland habitat in R. North Macedonia and it is a home to many species of flora and fauna.
In the recent time, negative influences of the anthropogenic factor were display on the wetland by loading with contaminant from the ground. Recently, during our investigations, were detected untreated waste water inflow in the Belciska River and Belcista swamps.
The present investigation is a part of a detailed investigation entitled Ecological status of fish population in Belcista wetland. The present part aimed study anthropogenic pressure on fish population in Belcista wetland. This region hosts one endemic freshwater species of the Balcan Penninsula, Ohrid minnows (Pelasgus minutus), which is occurring here. It is threatened by habitat loss.
