Abstract

In this paper, the author will analyze the need for intelligence and the role of intelligence services in combating contemporary threats and challenges in a nation state. In the introductory part of the paper, the author scientifically defines the term intelligence. The author further identifies the covert methods used by the intelligence service in its work. The content will be prepared on the basis of analysis of scientific literature and using electonic content. In the preparation of the content of the paper, the author will apply the general scientific methods: the descriptive method, the normative method and the method of content analysis as a separate scientific method.
