Abstract

Illegal drug traffi cking is a serious security problem that aff ects all societies and has serious implications in all areas of social life. This type of crime most often has characteristics of organized crime, and members of illegal organized groups appear as perpetrators. Most often it is a matter of cross-border crime, as it rarely happens that in one country there is a production and full consumption of drugs and narcotic substances. The authors of the paper analyze the situation with illegal drug traffi cking primarily in relation to the socalled “Balkan route", and this kind of criminal activity is also spreading in the European area. The authors also make an analysis of the criminalistic characteristics of the perpetrators of criminal off enses of illegal drug trafficking in the Republic of Macedonia, and their activities in the territory of Austria, as well as in other European countries.
