Abstract

This paper deals with the issue of introducing new concept in the structure and quality of services in private accommodation sector in Macedonia, and it came as a result of author’s involvement in a project organised by NGO Woman’s Association from Struga, granted by Regional Environmental Centre (REC).
As a country with a lot of different tourist attractions Macedonia has great opportunities for tourist development of a better quality. In order to achieve this aim, certain steps are under way, such as modernising the existing tourism and hospitality facilities and introducing new concepts in providing services for tourists. In such way initiatives are taken to introduce the B&B concept in private accommodation in the Ohrid Lake region in order to increase the number of visitors and to improve the quality of this type of accommodation.

The purpose of this paper is to outline the structure of accommodation facilities in Macedonia, identify necessary conditions for the introduction of the B&B concept in private accommodation and its possibilities. Finally, advantages of this process and strategic directions are discussed.
