Abstract

The region of Prilep is known for production of oriental aromatic tobacco of the highest quality,
which is conditioned primarily by the climate character in this region. The basic climate parameters, temperature and precipitations, are of fundamental impor - tance in formation of yield and quality of tobacco raw. They are factors that affect both external and internal characteristics of tobacco plant. Typical for the climate factors is that we are not able to change them. Therefore, they should be continuously investigated and we must take suitable and timely measures in order to adapt our-selves to them. Having in mind the importance of climate conditions in production of tobacco, we’ve made this study and presented data on the average monthly and yearly temperatures and precipitation amounts in the period from 1955 to 2004. Data were obtained from the Meteorology station of Tobacco Institute in Prilep, which has been operating since February 3, 1925.
