Abstract

The effectiveness of fungicides in protection of tobacco from the causing agent of blue mold disease (PtA) was estimated during 2005. The trial was set up on the Experimental field of Tobacco Institute in Prilep. Aim of the investigation was to study the effectiveness of two new fungicides (Melodi combi and Armetil WP), which have been investigated for the first time in tobacco protection from this pathogen. Their effectiveness was compared with four other fungicides taken as standard products, because they have been appied for a longer period in blue mold control.
Intensity of attack in the check was considerably high, ranging 42,06% in middle belt during the first estimation and 30,95% in upper belt during the second estimation.
Investigations showed a high effectiveness coefficient of the new fungicides in tobacco protection, with no significant differences between them.
Somewhat higher coefficient, however, was obtained with Armetil WP, estimating 77,22% in the middle belt and 98,35% in the upper belt. The effectiveness obtained with Melodi combi ranged 71,11% and 83,19%, respectively, during the second estimation in the upper belt leaves.
