Abstract

Augmented reality is the technology allowing devices to place virtual objects in the physical world. Devices can be HMD, smart glasses or smart phones. Looking at smart phones, Tango was the most advanced technology available on the market. Being a hardware solution required special cameras that increased the devices price and was limited to only new future phones. The announcement of ARKit brought large attention from the developers making Google in order to be competitive to pivot to ARCore as a software solution.
