Abstract

In the course of 1990-1994, investigations were carried out in Tobacco Institute- Prilep on morphological- biological characteristics, pathogenic properties and effects of ecological factors on growth of the fungus Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae.
The effects of nutrient agar, pH value, temperature and light were estimated.
Investigations were done in a laboratory on nutrient agar, and observation lasted 15 days, in witch mycellial growth was measured.
The fungus growth was the highest on oat agar and V-8 vegetable juice and the lowest on maize agar.
Neutral to low pH reaction was the most suitable for fungus growth, unlike the alcaline one, where the mycelial growth was lower.
Minimum temperature for growth of the fungus was 100C, and maximum 370C. The fungus growth was the higest at about 250C.
Light has no significant effect on growth development of the fungus Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae.
