Abstract

The paper will give an overview of the discovered international channels of illicit drug trafficking in the Republic of Macedonia and drug criminal groups and networks in terms of their placement and manner of action. The illicit narcotic drugs traffic and their smuggling, in all its features and characteristics (scope, dynamics, manner of execution, perfection of the methods used by the perpetrators), is a delicate matter with a high level of organization. The effective prevention of this type of crime implies an even higher degree of organized response. The general goal of the paper is to present the conditions and future prospects of illicit drug trafficking in the Republic of Macedonia and the activities undertaken by the competent bodies for its prevention. In order to getting a more complete picture of the way in which international channels of illicit drug trafficking are detected and interrupted, three cases (Bosporus, Transit, and Conductor) were analyzed in the paper, which revealed large amounts of drugs and smashed several criminal organizations.
