Abstract

The main subject of the analyses of the paper is the new risks, threats and challenges for the security sector in the Republic of Macedonia, that arise as a result of the no integration of the country into NATO and the EU.
For this aim, on the beginning of the paper is given chronology of the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, together with an overview of important dates and conditions that were placed before country to meet, and especially are emphasized the challenges that appeared and still appear meanwhile in that process. The need to introduce security reforms and the need to build a European security system are specifically emphasized. As the central problem in the paper is the question whether the reforms in the security sector is necessity or requirement in the Republic of Macedonia.
Finally the authors suggest the overall situation in the Republic of Macedonia in the security sector reforms and Euro-Atlantic integration, trying to accommodate Macedonia between reforms and EU, according to the real results and current challenges.
