Abstract

The necessity of motivation is of great importance in the teaching process, and especially specific regarding gifted students in regular classes - presuming they have already been identified as such. Motivation denotes a sum of factors which stimulate, direct, sustain, and maintain certain behaviour (activities). In-class relations have a positive influence and present a very significant factor of motivation. The social atmosphere in there determines the form of communication and the level of mutual acting and cooperation among all class members. In the development of motivation with the gifted students a great attention is given to the needs for recognition or self-affirmation of students, to their interest in a certain scientific field which should be in correlation with their future profession (a field that they have an interest in and a talent for) but also to the highlighting of the importance and usefulness of learning and following the course of the set goals, the discrimination of the learning outcomes, and the attitudes towards responsibility and duty towards learning. Key words: gifted students, motivation, class atmosphere, self-affirmation, feed-back information, the interest of the gifted students, responsibility and duty attitudes.
